Monday, September 10th, 1883 A bright and beautiful day. Peter began threshing in the West Farm this morning and Lee and I went out with both teams. Brought home two big loads 134 bushels and put them in the new barn bins. Went out again this afternoon and brought home 120 bushels. A good days work. Took care of teams and did milking and chores. A beautiful evening spent at home. Tuesday, September 11th, 1883 Another beautiful day. Was not well last night on account of dust of threshing. but got up this morning and did chores. Felt better and went out to the farm. With both teams we brought home 98 bu. Went out this afternoon with one wagon with bed and one with hay rack. Brought home a big load of slough hay. I stayed till the job of threshing was completed at near sundown. Then came home with 46 bu. Total yield 1166 bu. Peters share 792 bu. Our share 396 bu. Put off load and spent evening at home. Wednesday, September 12th, 1883 Another fine warm day, but quite dusty, and beautiful moonlight night. Did morning work. Hitched to the buggy rode over to town with Iowa. Got some furniture. Engaged Mrs Gorton and Lulu for drive tonight. Got shave and hone to dinner. Spent afternoon helping the carpenters fix shedding. After supper took Mr Clute and Mrs & Miss Gorton out to Chandler's to attend the Literary, Had a pleasant time. Read and old essay on "Rights Civil and Natural." Home at midnight.
