Wednesday, October 10th, 1883 Cloudy and gloomy this forenoon, and a bright beautiful afternoon. Did chores, came to town and heard election news found pigs and took them home. Mr Smith came over and we handled pigs and calves. Came over to town after dinner and did some work in office. Home at 4 o'clock and finished trimming South line of hedge by [Custars?] Did chores and spent eve at home. A beautiful moonlight night. Thursday, October 11th, 1883 A cool, cloudy, gloomy day. Up early and started three carpenters to the W. farm in the buggy. Followed with a big load of lumber. Home at noon. Went out again this afternoon with heavy load of lumber. Roads heavy and slavish. Home and did chores and milking. Dressed and attended the first session of the "Shakespeare Club" at the Church parlors. The attendance was large- organized and will read "Julius Caesar" first. Escorted Mrs. Webb and Ada home. Made brief call. Home, read and to bed. Friday, October 12th, 1883 A cloudy and gloomy day, cold some rain this eve, and threatening a big storm. Up early and got 4 carpenters started to the West farm. After breakfast followed them with a load of lumber. Home at noon. Dressed and came to town directly after dinner. Spent the afternoon in the office and running around. Got shave, home and did chores. Spent the eve at home reading. Mrs Wilde here to dinner. Spent the afternoon. The boys attended a dance at Jim Mc's tonight.
