Saving...
Saturday, October 13th, 1883 A nasty day, with cold rain from the N.E. Did morning work and spent forenoon cleaning up the barn floor. After dinner came to town. Walked down home with Cressa and secured her company for the Theatre Tuesday eve next. We closed up the sale to Cannon this afternoon and got our $1800. Spent the afternoon in the office at work writing letters. Went down to Hattie's and took tea. Called at Mrs Gortons and spent the eve. Home at 10 o'clock. Sunday, October 14th, 1883 A cool gloomy day, but fine bright evening. Did morning work. Hitched to the buggy and mother and I rode down to the Valley. Roads horribly muddy. Met Aunt Lydia and Uncle George Corwine at Grandmother's. Took dinner here. Rode down to Aunt Linda's but found no one at home. Went up to Aunt Sarah's but no one at home here. Came on home stopping a short time at Jim Mc's. Also stopped in the lower part of town and secured a girl.Did chores. Attended the Unitarian Church Rev. St John of Mass. preached a powerful sermon. Walked home with Cressa. Home and to bed. Monday, October 15th, 1883 A bright cool day, busily employed.Started 5 carpenters to the W. farm. Lee and I followed in the buggy. All hands got to work and put up the old roofing in good shape. Lee and I home to dinner. Rode out to Pat Russells after dinner and bought a saw and five pigs at sale. for $10.81.
