Tuesday, October 16th, 1883 A bright day, but a terribly cold ray wind from the East. Up early and started 4 carpenters to the farm. Loaded up some wood also a load of boards and took to the farm. Brought home a small load of corn which I picked. Grandmother, Uncle Geo [Cowine?] and Aunt Lydia here to dinner. Took 1/2 cord of wood to Joe Sterretts man. Picked up posts for the division of fence between us and Cannon. Did chores and milking. Spent the eve at home reading. Threatening. Wednesday, October 17th, 1883 A terribly cold and raw wind from the S.E. with rain storm this eve commencing at 4 o'clock. Spent the forenoon, after doing chores running around town and writing in the office. After dinner put on a load of manure and started for the farm. Got cought in the rain and got wet. Home late through the rain and mud. Spent the eve quietly at home reading. Thursday, October 18th, 1883 A warm pleasant day and delightful evening. Did morning chores. Then got to work on the line of division fence between us and Cannon. A man digging post holes and Lee and I setting posts. Put in a hard afternoon's work at this and nailing on boards. Did chores dressed after supper and came over to town borrowed Hattie's OperaGlass and got a shave. Called for Cressa and we attended the Theatre. Gardner in "Karl" the entertainment was splendid and the orchestra fine. Home at 11. A fine moonlight night.
