Saving...
Friday, October 19th, 1883 A fine bright day, with cool breeze in the N.W. Did chores and got 4 carpenters started for the W. farm. We then went to work on the line of division fence. I borrowed Mr Cannon's rig, came to town and got 2 spools of wire at Shepard and Carpenters. Home and worked till noon- Finished setting post- after dinner worked at the fence awhile. Then put on load of manure and a bunch of shingles and went to the farm. Brought home a load of [jirked?] corn late. Spent the evening pleasantly at home reading. Saturday, October 20th, 1883 Bright and fine this forenoon, cloudy this afternoon with cool wind in East. Got 4 men started to the farm early. Did chores. Then took load of manure out and came back in the buggy. Dressed and came to town after dinner. Had tooth fixed by Morsman. Saw the fat man [Jud?] H. Craig. Rode over to the depot and saw Mother and Lee off for Burlington on their way to Ohio. Home and put on wire on division fence. Did chores. Dressed and attended the Hespherian Society. A good session. Walked home with Mrs Gorton and Lulu. The men finished barn and home at 5 o'clock. Sunday, October 21st, 1883 A bright forenoon. Cloudy afternoon and cool wind in East. Ott did chores. I dressed and attended the Preobyterian Church. Rev Folsom preached an anniversary sermon, having been here 3 years. His text was "Ebenezer" "Hitherto hath the Lord prepared us." Spent the afternoon at home reading. "Adam Bede" Did chores and spent the eve at home. Not well. Chas Lufkin died this eve.
