Saving...
Sunday, November 4th, 1883. A delightfully pleasant day, but threatening tonight. Up late and had breakfast Mrs Barne's Chas' boarding place. Went down and strolled about awhile. Attended the congregation at Church. Dr Salter preached an excellent sermon. After dinner made a pleasant call on Mr and Mrs [Rhoda?] - called at "Harris House" and Chas and I took tea there. Wrote letters to Lee and sent on our Mileage ticket on the Rock Iland road.Spent eve pleasantly in Chas' room. Monday, November 5th, 1883, Intended to start home this morning, but it was pouring raining, so concluded to wait till noon- Forenoon cleared up a little, but a steady rain this aftenoon and eve. Spent forenoon in Chas' office and running around. Played checkers with Clayton and was badly beaten. Had dinner at Chas' boarding place. Then went to freight house in the rain, and came up to West Liberty in the accommodation, a slow and tedious run. Read the account of the "Burlington [LLevi?] Centennial" on the way up. Got hearty supper at Liberty and came on home at 10 o'clock. A cold stormy night. So rode over in the hack. Am not well. Tuesday, November 6th, 1883, A clean fine day, Looked after morning work and dressed colts wound. Came to town and wrote in office. Dined at Hattie's. Spent afternoon in office. Home via lower bridge. Walked out to Huffman's and offered $1.00 to release pigs. Wed. Nov. 7th 1883. Cloudy and drizzle this forenoon; fine afternoon. Went to valley with both teams. Brought up two loads wood, and [bll?]. molasses. Spent afternoon choring. Eve at home reading. A fine night.
