Mon, Nov. 26th 83. Froze up this morning. A bright day with new wind in N.W. To town after choring. Bot fine overcoat at Stern Millner's $22.00 Got new ax at Shepard's after dinner. The boy and I went out to back pasture this eve, after 3 P.M. and got big load of limbs. At home tonight reading. Henry Pomeroy left today. Paid Mother $2.50 for board. Bot opera tickets 1.00 today. Tues.Nov 27th '83. A cold day, with strong wind in the S.W. Boy and I went to valley and began clearing up and burning brush in timber lot N. of Jim Sterns. Took our dinners with us. Had great difficulty in controling the fire owing to high wind. Put on load of refuse wood and home at 6. oclock. Spent eve at home reading &c. Lee a small load of cord wood from timber lot. Wednesday, Nov. 28th 83. Weather better than yesterday not so much winds. Boy and I to Valley with one team Did good day's work burning bush, and home in good season with load of down wood. After supper, dressed carefully, and came to town with Iowa- Got shave. We then attended the Opera of "Iolanthe" at Opera House by the " Chicago Church Choir Co" By Gilbert Sullivan. Very good. Thurs. Nov.29th 83. Chas up today. Thanksgiving Day! Boy and I to Valley to burn brush because the weather and roads are so fine. At noon, went over to Aunt Eve's and had excellent Thanksgiving turkey dinner. Jim Mc and family there too- Home early. Attended Shakespeare Club. We read in Acts II & III "King John".
