Tuesday, Decr.4th.83. A most beautiful day, busily employed. Boy got our wagon at shop, and to valley timber. Lee down with other team and got home big load of wood. Mother and I to valley in buggy. Took dinner at Aunt Ellen's. Did big days work cleaning up and burning brush on E. side of road. Sent boy home with load of small wood. Mother and I took supper at Aunt Em's and had pleasant ride home. Sold 10 cords of wood to F.M [Danner?] @ 3.00 per cord =$30. He paid me $3.00 on same and agreed to pay bal. by 1st of January '84. Wed. Decr 5th 83. A phenomenally mild and beautiful day. Boy and I to valley timber with one team and did big day's work clearing up and burning brush. Finished on E side of road at 2 P.M. and began in W side- burning one heap of brush. Home at 6. P.M. Dressed, came to town, and wrote letters in office- Wrote letter to Father and sent Q.C. Deed to Jackson & Lewis-Montezuma. Thurs, Decr 6th, 83. Change in weather, and today has been cloudy with drizzling rain most of day. Did chores and spent forenoon picking over and assorting corn raised on home place. Boy picking beans. Finished sorting corn & chored this afternoon. P.M. got shave and attended "Shakespeare Club" Well attended session, interesting reading. Still on K. John. Friday. Decr 7th, 83 Weather cloudy & cold, raw wind from W. Flurry of snow at noon. Rode "Nell" to Coralville, paid Mrs John Davis $11.25 in full for Wallnut Lumber. On to W. Farm. Brought 7 steers & 2 heifers home. Boy and I to Coralville this afternoon and got 2 loads wallnut lumber. Boys to Valley tonight to party at Aunt Linda's. Self at home- Ott home at 5 A.M. Got vol V French Art today.
