Mon, Decr. 17th 83. A wintry day with driving snow storm from S.E. all day. Did morning work, and spent forenoon indoors. not very well. To town this afternoon in the cutler for repairs. Did some writing in office. Home and looked after chores- Eve at home- Ella Robinson here and we had a good game of Whisk. Ott and Ella vs Gillie and I. We beat them. O'Donnel hanged this morning in London at 8 o'cl. Tues. Decr 18th 83. A cold wintry day. Not well this morning. Came to town and spent forenoon in office reading. Mitcher paid me 1.50 on wood a/c. Over to town this afternoon. Got mares shod at Sternwells and took cutler 1.10 home. Helped with chores. A stinging cold night. At home reading. Recd a favorable note from Miss Belle this eve. Wed. Decr 19/83. Intensely cold raw day. Cloudy and wind N.W. To Jim Mc's in Cutter with Mother and took dinner. Home and down to Stove's to see about purchase of Chester hogs. Dressed and to town. Saw drawing for prize cutter. F. Kane got it. Spent eve pleasantly at Mrs Gorton's. Home at midnight & to bed. Thurs. Decr 20th. 83 Weather moderated this morning. Boy and I to valley with both teams and got two loads of cordwood home. Snowing furiously from S.E. from noon on. A hard trip. Spent balance of afternoon at wood pile and making stock comfortable. Dressed and attended Reading Club. A very unsatisfactory meeting. Miss Bracket presiding. Finished King John & began Richard II Ranck and Mrs Classon married tonight.
