Fri. Decr. 21 83. Winter Solstice- A bright day- cooler this eve. Got late start to valley with wagon and sliegh. With great difficulty got two loads corewood to city. No sleighing in Sand lane and I came around by Smith's. Delivered one load to Jeff Bright= 104 ft. @ $4.50 per cord. Had dinner at 4.30- Did chores and spent eve at home- Tyler paid me 1.25 for wood. Sat. Decr. 22d 83. A mild day. Snow from E this a.m. Boy and I to valley and brought up two big loads of wood on the wagons. Hauled 1 cord on big wagon for Gilliland. A cold tedeous trip. Had first buckwheat cakes of season at Sterens. Marked some trees for Collins. Also measured up some wood for Frank S. and paid him $1.25 Did chores after 4.30 o'clock supper. To town this eve through driving N.E. snow storm. Collected $4.00 from Tyler on wood, and paid for gum boots bought yesterday at Thompson's. Did some writing in office and home. Sun. Decr 23d. 83 Weather cloudy and gloomy but not cold. Spent forenoon doing chores. Hitched to cutter, and drove over to [Stalties?] with Mother. Had excellent dinner. John and I rode out to W. Farm. Pete not at home. Took Hattie and Edith a little ride. Home and looked after chores. Attended M.E. Church. Rev. Ingalls preached. Home, had lunch & to bed. Mon. Decr 23d 83. A bright beautiful day. Wind in S.W. Boy and I to valley in sleigh and wagon and brought up two big loads of wood. After 4 o'clock supper did chores. Walked out to Fletcher's to see Frank. Recd today a most elegant neck cloth from as a Christmas present Ada Webb. Came to town and wrote note- Not feeling very well.
