Wed. April 9th, 1884 Slightly moderated but still cold and raw. Indoors reading. Finished "The Federalist." Thurs. April 10th. Still cold and damp. Hattie and the children over- Housed up reading. Fri. April 11th. Cloudy and warmer. A gleam of sun shine this afternoon, and I got into it. Miss Hudson and Miss Kittie called this afternoon. Sat. April 12th. Cloudy with raw east wind. Housed up all day. Henry Pomeroy returned today. Sun. April 13th. Easter Sunday, and a cloudy gloomy day. In doors all day. Hattie John and Winnie over this eve. Rain storm with thunder and lightening tonight. A.J. Free called this afternoon. Pomeroy quite sick. Mon. April 14th Weather cloudy and gloomy, In doors all day. The boys to Jim Mc's to a little party in honor of Jeff and his wife. Arch sprained his ancle. Tues, April 15th A gloomy day with some drizzle. Indoors all day. Tom Crowley 1 day hauling manure . Wed. April 16th. Bright day but cold wind in the N.W. Indoors and walking about the place. Hattie, John and Winnie over this eve. Iowa and I preparing for our trip to New Orleans. Bought new suit at Clapps for $10.50 Also Ulster $1.75 and hat cover 40c. Thurs. April 17th Spent forenoon getting ready for New Orleans trip. Lee took us to depot via Hattie's. Left Iowa City at 330. with $25 cash on hand. Paid for two
