108 Mon April 28th 1884 - continued. Letter from Ott containing P.O. order for $25.00 After [illegible] dinner, went down town and got cakes and strawberries for lunch. Got a bit bundle of papers from Ott. Spent eve till bedtime reading. Tues. April 29th A warm day. Cloudy with breeze from the river. Went down to [French?] Market and purchased some articles for lunch on way home. Rested awhile, then went out to the Exposition Grounds and spent a couple hours pleasantly. Magnificent Live Oak trees draped with moss. After dinner got our tickets stamped for return. Dressed and went up to the Balls at the Washington Armory and K of P Hall, Home at ten o'clock to bed tired out. Wed. April 30th Got ready and left New Orleans for home at 9.15. An intensely hot day. Summer heat. Reached Jackson. Miss. at sundown. A fine place surrounded by a fine country. Had lunch here. Slept badly last night and have [fret?] badly all day. Thurs. May 1st 1884. Spent the night rather comfortably in the day coach. Had morning lunch at Milan Term. Crossed the Ohio river at Cairo. Got dinner, and took 12.25 train for St. Louis. Weather cold - and heavy rain. Cleared up at eve. St. Louis at 7 P.M. Got lunch, telegraphed Chas. and engaged berth in sleeper for Burlington. Fri. May 2d. Reached Burlington at 6.25 A.M. Chas met us and all went up to Harris House, and took breakfast. Spent forenoon there. After
