Fri. May 2d 1884 - continued. dinner went down to office with Charles. Made hard trip down to depot and back and up to see Carl Vogt. Up to office - then to House with Iowa. Spent eve and night there not feel all that well. A fine day. Sat. May 3d, 1884. Had a bad night and arose at 9 o'clock unrefreshed. Had some breakfast and spent forenoon at house. Same this afternoon feeling quite badly. Weather murky and threatening Rode up in hack and roomed with Charlie. Sun. May. 4th Had a pretty good nights sleep and breakfasted at Sunderland's with Chas. Spent forenoon at the House and dined there. Cal [Forney?] called. At 3 P.M. Chas got livery rig and we had a fine ride. He and I, Iowa and June. Went out to Sophia's where I got a fine glass of milk. Called on Miss Lewis and Mrs Allen. Spent eve at House and roomed with Charlie at [Umtarger's?]. Weather threatening this forenoon. A fine afternoon. Mon. May 5th Up at 5.30 and breakfasted at the Harris House. Took 7 A.M. train. W. Liberty on time. Iowa City at 11 o'clock. Ott, Will and Hattie met us at depot. Rode over home in hack. Helped release "Charlie's" horse from under the fence. Spent the afternoon walking about. Hatt and Will here. Total cost of trip to New Orleans = $42.60 each. Tues. May 6th A cold gloomy forenoon. Weather better this afternoon. Auntie Walker here to dinner. Walked over to office and spent hour there. Mother and I took supper at Hattie's, Mrs. Moore there. Bid Will goodbye.
