Wed. May 7th 1884. A bright day but cool wind in the North. Walked over to the office this forenoon and did a little work. Took nap after dinner. Rode "Nell" over to town at 3 o'clock. Cancelled some chattel mortgages at the Court House. Spent an hour in the office. Rode home to supper. Fred and Clara Remley here tonight. Thurs. May 8th A bright beautiful day. Walked over to town and worked awhile in the office. Wgt. at Carson's =130 lbs. At home till 4 o'clock. Then brought Hattie and Edith home in the Phaeton. Rode around town awhile and brought Ott home. Spent the evening pleasantly at home. Fri. May 9th Hatties 27th Birthday. Mother and I went to valley in the double buggy. Had good dinner and pleasant visit at Grandmothers I walked over to the timber pasture, and stopped at Steven's awhile. Home via the Smith farm at 6 o'clock. Have had a pleasant ride. Weather delightful. Breeze in West. Sat. May 10th A bright, hot day. Spent forenoon at home. About noon rode "Nell" out to back pasture to look for colts. Unsuccessful. Found Old Sharpless setting his fence over on our pasture and ordered him to remove it. Spent afternoon delightfully at home with the folks sitting on the front poarch. Hattie and the children over today. Sun. May 11th A cloudy gloomy day, with damp air. Not feeling so well and in doors all day. Capt Holsam and wife called to see me Hattie and John over in the evening.
