Sun.June 1st 1884. A lovely morning. Took long hike around the river road back of Fletchers. Afternoon threatening with rain at intervals. At home all the afternoon reading and napping. A rainy evening spent pleasantly at home. Mon. June 2d. Rain all last night. Cloudy and cool this morning. Rode over to town on "John" Home at noon and spent the afternoon at home reading. Same tonight. A heavy rain at noon. Tues. June 3d. Chicago Republican Convention meets today. Weather cloudy and threatening. At home all the forenoon. Same this afternoon, not feeling as well as usual. Began sleeping in N.Bedroom tonight. Wednesday, June 4th A bright and beautiful morning. But clouded up, and we had some rain this afternoon. Walked over this forenoon and witnessed the parade of Sell's Bros big show. The parade was very fair. Home to dinner. Rode over at 2 o'clock and stayed in the office till 4. Rode home and read till supper. Spent evening pleasantly at home. Thurs. June 5th A fine day. Rode over and spent forenoon in the office. Afternoon and evening at home reading. Fri. June 6th Rode over to town with Mother in the Phaeton and made some purchases. At home this afternoon reading and resting. The eight anniversary of my Senior Reception. Sat. June 7th A hot day. At home this forenoon. After rode over in Phaeton. Got Hair & beard trimmed. Bought new hammock. Doc Moore exammid me.
