Tues. July 22d Threatened rain this morning, but it did not come. Stayed about the Hotel and took a walk up town. After dinner took a long ride on the Hattie May. Spent the bal of the afternoon reading and resting. Weather intensely hot. A magnificent storm off to the E. tonight. Wed. July 23d Weather much cooler today. About the Hotel all day. Reading a little in Tennyson. Thurs July 24th Weather warmer about the Hotel all the forenoon. Took Boat ride on the Hattie May. Spent eve in room reading and conversing with Iowa who starts home tomorrow. Fri. July 25th An intensely hot day, Saw Iowa off for home on the early train. Took boat ride. After dinner went down to the depot and met Hattie and John. Spent afternoon and eve visiting and resting. Sat. July 26th Another warm day, We have remained at the Hotel all day, Wrote home and read some. Sun. July 27th A hot day, Washed and dressed. All hands took a ride on the "Hattie May" Spent most of the afternoon swinging in the Hammock. Mon. July 28th Today we made the grand tour of the lake on the City of St Louis. Ate our lunch on board the boat Back to the Hotel at 4 o'clock. The Boat was crowded with excursionists and our trip was not very successful. Spent eve at Hotel reading.
