Tueday. July 29th 1884. Took ride on the " Hattie May" this forenoon. P.M. about the Hotel reading and loafing. Threatening rain all the afternoon and the weather much cooler tonight. Paid Mr Wait $11.50 on board this eve. Wed. July 30th A cool pleasant day. Spent the day about the Hotel resting and reading. This eve we engaged rooms at the "Clarke House," A much quieter place. Thurs. July 31st Moved our luggage down to the "Clarke House" this morning and took possession of our new quarters. Took a ride of the "Hattie May" to the Hotel La Fayette and back. Spent afternoon lying in the Hammock. Paid $5.00 on board. Fri. August 1st A bright day with strong wind in the South. Heavy rain with thunder and lightning this eve. Hattie and John went into the City and got trinkets for the children. I swung in the Hammock most all day. Not feeling very well. Sat. Aug. 2d A rainy day, cold and damp. In doors all day not feeling at all well. Began using Inahlor this eve. Weighed today Wgt-123. Robert Walker Byington died September 15 1884.
