136 Saturday October 16th 1886. I was busy about the house all the morning. Hatt was over with the children and Jane Sanders was with her. Lee went to Des moines for the day. I sewed a little on an apron for May. Mother went to town as the folks went home. I wrote to Father. Sunday October 17th 1886. I was busy about the house most of the forenoon. Mother went to church. In the afternoon she and Ott went to the funeral of Mrs Stevens, I was talking to Will in the afternoon and in the evening we went to the M.E. Church. Mr Crippers preached. Monday October 18th 1886. We got up very early. The boys hauled four loads of hay from the west farm. I washed and ironed and baked two cakes. Mother was over town in the afternoon. Will went to the depot in the evening to meet Mr Holmes from Delavan. Tuesday October 19th 1886. Mother and Ott went in the country and was gone all day. I was busy about the the work a great part of the day. Wednesday October 20th 1886. I went to town in the forenoon and Mother in the afternoon The gentlemen were away most of the day visiting stock farms about town. I finished a pair of night-gowns for May. I cut out other work at night. The boys went to the theater. Thursday October 21st 1886. I started in to do a big days sewing, but about ten oclock Mrs Denton and Anna came for a call. As they were going down the hill they were thrown from the buggy and Mrs Denton so severely stunned that she was carried up to the house by Mr Clute, Thompson and another man. We sent for the doctor and Jay Denton. In the afternoon Will went to the valley to tell Aunt Em. She and Elmer were here all night. Mrs Denton came to herself about eight in the evening Anna suffered with sick head-ache all afternoon and evening. John & Hatt were over and stayed till bed-time. Mr Holmes went out to stay all night at Eugene Lees. Ott went to the country yesterday and has not returned yet. Weather very pleasant for this time of year.
