145 Tuesday December 14th 1886. I was going to town for the day but it began to snow so I stayed at home and worked on my lace. I read in the evening. Wednesday December 15th 1886. Weather rather cold. I helped with the work and finished the lace I was working on. Father is at Fletchers in Oakland. Thursday December 16th 1886. It was a pleasant day for the time of year. Will got every thing ready to kill a hog and Lee helped him after dinner. I made the side-board scarf before noon. I went to town soon after dinner and was getting christmas presents. Hatt was over all the afternoon and evening and John came after her in the evening. Friday December 17th 1886. Mother worked all day at cutting up the meat and frying out lard. I did all the ironing, and read in the evening. Saturday December 18th 1886. Mother went to town about ten oclock and it was three when I got the work all done about the house so I could sit down to sew a little. I sewed all the evening while Will was gone to town. Ott was up in my room a long while and we were talking about business. We had a letter from Mary Woolf and she is coming next Thursday night. Will got a boy named Charlie Wills to help him work awhile. Sunday December 19th 1886. I was busy about the house awhile in the forenoon and read aloud some to Will before and after dinner. We read and wrote a little in the evening. Monday December 20th 1886. We washed in the forenoon and in the afternoon I went to town to finish my christmas shopping I stayed to Hatts till after supper and Will came after me. Tuesday December 21st 1886. I ironed in the forenoon and was busy doing extra work about the house all the afternoon. Mother was in town doing her shopping for the christmas tree. I was sewing all the evening. Will was over town awhile.
