Saving...
148 Sunday January 2nd 1887. It was too intensely cold to go to Aunt Ellens today and we were very much disappointed. We all sat around and read most of the day. We only got two meals. Monday January 3rd 1887 We washed a lot of sheets in the forenoon and in the afternoon Will, Mary and I went over to town a little while and from there over to Ed Lucas where we had a splendid visit. We did not get home till nearly nine oclock. Tuesday January 4th 1887 We were busy about the house most of the forenoon. Hatt came over to spend the day with the children. I went with Will when he took Mary to the depot in the afternoon. I got some-thing in my eye and when he took Hattie and the children home I went over to the doctors and had it taken out, my eye hurt so I went to bed early. Wednesday January 5th 1887. Mother went to town for the day. I got the dinner and in the afternoon ironed the sheets. Wills back hurt him very much during the afternoon and evening. Mother is sixty one years old today. Weather a little more moderate. Thursday January 6th 1887 We washed again this forenoon all the wearing clothes. I read some and worked on my edging in the afternoon. Will walked to town this forenoon to get linament for his back. Ott is away from home. Weather cold again. Friday January 7th 1887 Will felt so very much better that he helped Charlie cut down several trees and haul them up to the house. I was working about the house all the forenoon and in the afternoon did some mending for Will and myself. I read in the evening Saturday January 8th 1887 I went to town with Will in the big sled before dinner and after I did some ironing in the afternoon before I went back to town with Will in the cutter. I was at Hatts awhile. I read a little in the evening to finish "Vanity Fair" I worked some on edging. Will went down town awhile.
