165 Monday May 2nd 1887 It was a cold and very windy day. I was busy about the work all the forenoon and cut out some underclothing for myself while Mother was gone to town in the afternoon. I sewed all the evening. The wind went down at night. Tuesday May 3rd 1887 We washed this forenoon and Will took the hogs away at two loads and went and brought the ashes and soap grease from Hatties. I went to town in the afternoon and put $95. of the $122. Will got for the hogs in the bank. I was at Hatts awhile and brought home fish for supper. Will worked in the field all afternoon. Wednesday May 4th 1887 It was a splendid day and Mother took an early start at her soap-making and I did all the house-work. Mrs Denton called in the morning. After dinner I helped Will shell seed corn and then he worked out in the yard for me. Mother went over to Custors in the afternoon. Thursday May 5th 1887 I ironed in the forenoon and went to town in the afternoon awhile. I worked on my edging what time I had. Friday May 6th 1887 It was a splendid time to work out doors and Mother and I put in the whole forenoon in the berry patch. She went to town after dinner and I cleaned up some in the tool house and put up rags. Saturday May 7th 1887 I was very busy about the house all the forenoon and in getting the dinner. Will began planting his corn today and Fred Sangster who is helping him was here to dinner. I was over town all the afternoon. I did a little sewing in the evening. Weather quite warm. Wills 32nd birth-day. I got him a hat for a present. Sunday May 8th 1887 Mother went to church this morning and did not come home till after dinner when the Whetstones came with her The children were over for dinner. Will and I rested all the afternoon and went to town with the folks and to church.
