168 Tuesday May 24th 1887 I washed this fnoonm and in the afternoon was done where Will was building fencer, I went to bed early as I was tired. Wednesday May 25th 1887 I ironed in the forenoon and felt so badly that I slept awhile in the afternoon. Mother went to town after I got up. I was busy with the chickens the latter part of the day. Thursday May 26th 1887 Mother and Ott went to the valley to spend the day. I got some baking done before noon and swept and cleaned a little after dinner. Will finished flouring corn the first time and then went over to get the boards for the fence. We bought the black mare of Ott today for $75.00. I wrote letters to Fanny, & Mary Woolf. Friday May 27th 1887 I washed a little this morning and went to town in the afternoon. Will began to nail the boards on the front fence today. Saturday May 28th 1887 I ironed this morning and finished Mays white dress. I was doing mending in the afternoon and worked with the chickens Mother went to town and did not get home till after supper. Will finished the new fence and got the old once tore down today. Sunday May 29th 1887 Will and I took a ride to the pasture and did not get home till nearly noon. John & Callie were here, visited with them all the afternoon. The Whetstones came over for supper. Robbie is four years old today. We had a shower this afternoon. Monday May 30th 1887 I helped Ott fix up his trunk today as he started west on the evening train as he is going to be married at Marshalltown to a Fannie Bremner day after tomorrow. Mother was in town in the afternoon. Will was building fence all day. Tuesday May 31st 1887 It rained nearly all the forenoon. Will and the boy were working about the barn. Mother went to town in the afternoon. Frank Fletcher stayed with Lee last night. The boys hoed the garden and mowed the yard in the afternoon. The Whetstones and Lee started to Marshalltown tonight.
