Saving...
174 Friday July 8th 1887 I did some baking and work about the place in the forenoon May went to town to get a hat. I did not like it so took her back in the afternoon to make a change. Will drove for me. I put a hundred dollars of the hog money in the bank. We went out to the pasture for the cows. I was very tired tonight. Saturday July 9th 1887 I was sick all the forenoon but managed to get the work done. Lee went right back to town after dinner and brought Mother over. She gave up her trip to Burlington this afternoon. I was lying down most of the afternoon. She came home to stay all night about five oclock. Otto & Fanny were over in the evening. Sunday July 10th 1887 Will and I rode over to see about getting a girl and were fortunate enough to engage one to come tomorrow. We then went up to the cemetery with flowers and took a ride before coming home. Ott and Fanny came over in the afternoon to stay all night. Monday July 11th 1887 I rode over town this morning to get things for dinner. Lizzie came and went to work. Mother started to Burlington on the afternoon train. Will was working for one of the neighbors and did not get home till late. We sat on the porch in the evening. Tuesday July 12th 1887 It was a very warm day. I visited with Fanny all forenoon. Will came home to dinner and went back to the field but the heat was so intense that they gave up work the middle of the afternoon. Ott and Fanny went home before supper as it looked like rain, but the storm passed around and did not make it cooler. Wednesday July 13th 1887 It threatened rain but cleaned of without before noon. Though it was very warm. Lizzie and I washed in the afternoon. Will and I rode to town after supper. I found Hatt just about sick I made up the bread for her. Will has not been well all day. Thursday July 14th 1887 Will took me over Hatts early. I found her better. Fanny started to Marshalltown before noon. Will came over for his supper. Hatt, Ott and I talked all afternoon about making a change, and Will and I sat on the porch and talked it over all evening.
