176 Thursday July 21st 1887 We finished the washing this forenoon and I went to town in the afternoon and Lizzie ironed some. The men were working to finish fixing the oats. Will does not feel well. Friday July 22nd 1887. I was helping with work and sewing what spare time I had I have begun my calico dress. Mother came home from Hatts to stay. She has help and company also. The Homes are there Will went to see the doctor tonight and got some medicine Mother and I were talking about affairs tonight, to bed early. Saturday July 23rd 1887 Mother and I took an early start and drove to Aunt Ems We had a very good visit. Mother and I talked about affairs of our own all the way home. We cannot agree exactly and I am not very happy over it. Will was not doing much today as he does not feel well. I was thirty six years old today I found a pretty hard sachel in the room when I came home that Will had bought for me. After supper John & Hatt with his Aunt called and Hatt brought me a pair of black silk mits and Fanny sent me two white handkerchiefs. Sunday July 24th 1887 It was a pleasant morning and Will and I drove to the valley to look at the cattle. We got home just as dinner was ready. We spent the whole afternoon in our room talking about our future plans and prospects. Ott & Fan here all the evening. Monday July 25th 1887 We did a large washing before noon and I was down to Halsons for a little while. In the afternoon the girls and I cleaned two rooms up stairs and got the carpet out of another. Mother was in town till after supper and John and Hatt brought her home. Will was about home most of the day. Tuesday July 26th 1887 We were up very early this morning. The boys went down to help Uncle Jim thresh. We worked very hard at the house-cleaning and got all done up stairs and finished the lower stairs and hall. Mother was in town late in the afternoon. It was late when the boys came home. We were all very tired.
