195 Wednesday December 7th 1887 It was a splendid day and Will did not feel like work so him and I went down to Aunt Ems for butter. It was the middle of the afternoon when we got back and we left the things and went on out to Sangsters and got the pup. I read in the evening. Will got the price of the coat today Thursday December 8th 1887 Will decided to not keep the over-coat so I wrote a new order this morning and took it over to the express office, he was busy as Albert was gone. I helped a little with the dinner and soon as I ate went over to Chutes of an errand and from there into McGoverns and Folsoms so did not get home till four oclock, just then Will came with a load of feed from Coralville. I cut out a couple of waists in the evening for Mother. Friday December 9th 1887 I went to town early this morning and was down to the office to see Ott so I did not get home till nearly noon. I wrote a letter to Mother after dinner and Lizzie took it to town. I sewed some and made mince pies and dressed a turkey before supper will took a load of stuff to the valley to have ground and is going to stay all night at Aunt Ems. I sewed till late in the eve Saturday December 10th 1887 I helped do some of the work this morning and went to town early. I was around with Fanny some of the time She and Otto went to Burlington in the afternoon. I came home about four oclock and baked a cake before supper. Will did not get home till night. I sewed a little in the evening We got letters from Mother and Father today. Weather threatening Sunday December 11th 1887 It was a wintry day but the Whetstones were over. Ott & Fanny were in Burlington. I had turkey for dinner. I talked with the folks all afternoon and read Little Dorrit in the evening Monday December 12th 1887 We got the washing done before noon. I did some mending in the afternoon and helped Will change some hooks in the closets, he fixed the hen-house today so they caught a lot of the chickens tonight and put them in to stay
