Monday July 16th 1888 It was rainy this morning as we could not put the clothes out. I got up the carpet in my room and the little room in the kitchen before noon and in the afternoon put them and the dining room carpet down. Lee is not well. Tuesday July 17th 1888 We took up carpets and cleaned the two south bed-rooms up stairs and Mays room. Lee did not go to town today. Wednesday July 18th 1888 We took up both hall and stair carpets today. the carpet of the norh-east room up stairs and washed it and took up the carpet on Mothers bed room downstaris and with Wills help got them all down again but the one we washed. It made a full day. Lee was up some. Thursday July 19th 1888 Will helped all day with the house cleaning and we took up and put down again both parlor and the front bed-room carpets. We washed a lot of curtains and I rode over town for an hour after dinner to testify before the Committee in regard to the scolarship of so long ago. Lee did not feel able to be up and we sent for Dr. Kessler. Friday July 20th 1888 I ironed this forenoon and after Mother got the work done up she went to town for the whole day. May and I worked all of the afternoon putting up curtains and putting things to rights. The men were hauling hay Lee was up part of the time today. Saturday July 21sy 1888 I went to town the first thing this morning and as soon as I got back Mother and I went to work on the carpet for the library. The men lifted out the desks at dinner time and by working hard all afternoon we got done. A heavy shower tonight. Lee not up all day. Father gave me a check for a hundred dollars for a birthday present. Sunday July 22nd 1888 I was working most of the forenoon. Will and I rode to the pasture late in the afternoon. Lee does not feel much better today. Ott and Fanny were over this evening for a short time.
