Friday August 17th 1888 We finished the quilt put in last night and put in another. I worked on it till five oclock when I dressed and went to Mrs Stortsmans to a six oclock tea. It was very pleasant. I went on down to Hatts and Will come after me. he was at the valley most of the day as Frank was having threshing done. Lee got home from Grinell tonight. Saturday August 18th 1888 I bound the quilts this forenoon and mended the clothes and put them away that we ironed yesterday. I dressed about three oclock and Father came after me with the horse and took Hatt and I out to the tea given by Mrs. Lumberd at her home assisted by Mrs Shrader. It was very pleasant. Father brought me home about six oclock. I helped get supper. Will had three men helping make hay. Fanny has been sick all week but was up about today. Sunday August 19th 1888 Will took a drive out east of town this forenoon and I engaged a girl to help Mother while I am gone. We then came over to Songsters and to see the cattle in the pasture. I helped get dinner and we both slept in the afternoon. Father and Mother went to the Ashleys for supper Lee went to the valley in the afternoon. Mondaty August 20th 1888 I worked on my bead waist all the time I could get It looked much like rain in the forenoon but Will worked some with his hay today. Tuesday August 21st 1888 We did the washing in the forenoon and I worked on my waist in the afternoon. Will began to stack hay in the afternoon. Wednesday August 22nd 1888 We got the ironing done early this morning. I finished my waist today. Will finished stacking the hay by working hard. Thursday August 23rd 1888 We got our work done early and things prepared for dinner. The girls and Aunt Fanny Hepburn were here for dinner. I went to town late in the afternoon. Will worked at Songsters today.
