May, TUESDAY, 6, 1862. A very Pleasant morning this and we have got most all our goods opened out and ready for selling I have had several calls this morning but as yet have sold nothing. The day is none of the best for trade, the mail came in Just now and Brings the confirmation of the evacuation of York Town. it is now in posession of our forces we are still selling a few plows about 1 pr day. I must write a letter to day to my father. We are expecting good times again in a few months when the war is wound up. We need a rain now very badly
