Mother February the 1 '65 Dear son I now seat my self once more to write to you under vary painful emotions I hardly know what to say to you as it becomes my painful duty I as a mother to inform you of the Death of your dear brother he died the 16 of January at two o clock in the morning in the General Hospital at Anapolis without a friend to say farewell O my poor boy could I have had the privilege to have been with him it seems that I never could give him up under sitch painful circumstances when we were cherishind the fond hopes that he would be soon at home with his friends in one short moment our fond hopes were blighted by a letter from the Chaplin he said that he was vary sick and wanted his friends to come as soon as posible it was Satturday evening about eight when we recieved the sad news and when we were expecting
