the same time I did yours and one from Aunt Mary. I received one from Milo a short time since and have answered it. There has been an order lsued from the war department to give noncommissioned Officers and Privates furloughs of thirty days providing their Officers will recommend them for a commission in a Negro Regiment the furlough is for them to go to the free school at Philadelphia to fit them in such studies as they shall need to recieve a commission, the captain has recommended me to the Colonel and I have been before the examining board here [?] about [?
