Washington, D.C. Sunday Oct 5th,, 1862 Dear parents I take the opertunlty of informing you how I like my new position. Well I can say I like it well though I have had rather a dismal time coming down here and after I got here likewise. I caught cold with my mumps and underwent a good deal of pain but I am most well now. Delos is well and enjoys it first best he is full of fun all of the time. I did not sleep any much for three nights when we came down here (over)
