Camp 154th,, N..Y.. Vols Near Alexandria Va. Sept,, 2nd,, 1863,, Dear Mother I hasten to write you a few lines in answer to your two very welcome letters of Aug,, 21st,, and 22d,, which I have just rec'd,, I have just come off of guard and behold I found three letters two from you and one from Ett. I have not got many letters from home since I left the Hospital. Our Reg't,, is near Alexandria now guarding Conscripts through to their Reg'ts, a detachment from our Reg't.. goes to the front every day on the Cars and back, to guard Conscripts. I have not been down only once yet then our squad had 159 Conscripts for the 145th,, Pa,, in the same Brigade with the 64th,, N.Y.. and so I stayed with Ed.. Clark all night came back the next day. there are a great many Conscripts arriving here in Alexandria now for different Reg't's in the field; We are having good times now have large Sibley
