Q.Mr. Dep't. 154th Reg't. N.Y.V. In the field Thirty miles from Savannah Georgia January 30th,, 1865 Dearest Friends, I seat myself once more to write you a few lines to let you know that I am well and enjoying life well and hope you are the same. we started from Savannah the 27th,, and got here last night, shall move from here in a day or so probaly into South Carolina. Greely is here and is doing well. I hear that I can send this in the morning so I write this evening and in great haste. I wrote you first before we left the City, and have not heard from you in some time.
