Camp Tippecanoe June 18 1861 Mrs Sarah Davis Dear Dear Wife I embrace a few leisure moments which I have to myself this morning to address you. Yesterday about 4 O clock our Colonel received a dispatch to hold himself in readiness to march at One hours notice consequently we may be called away at any hour. We do not know where to but those that have a chance to know say that we will go to Indianapalis for a short time until we receive our Rifles Tents &c and be Drilled in the Brigade a few day and then put in active Service in Virginia as matters appear to look billious about Washington at present. More than One half of the Regiment was away an furlough when the Orders come and the officers commenced telegraph
