Camp Reynolds Near Indianapolis June 23/61 Mrs Sarah Davis Dear Wife & Chidren I Steal a few moments from duty to address you a few lines to let you know that although far away and busily engaged my heart is constantly with the dear beloved ones at home and my constant feelings are to wish to be with you but my Country first and then myself in this the trying hour and the darkest knight of our beloved land of Liberty. We left Camp Tippecanoe on Friday at noon and arrived here at 4 O,clock in the evening amid a verry heavy rain Storm, but we stayed in the Depot until the rain ceased and then marched to Camp, which is Situated in a beautiful location about One mile North west from the State house.
