Camp Cheat Mountain Sep 26th 1861 Mrs Sarah Davis Dear Wife This forenon I wrote a letter to Sister Nancy in which I Stated that I did not Know whether I would get a chance to write to you for Several days. and that she must Send the letter to you. but I find that I can find a Spare hour just now and will devote it to my dear wife and family. When you see Nancys letter you will Know why I am at this camp and other things which I will not enumerate here for you can read each others letters and the same thing in both letters would not prove interresting. Suffice to Say that we Start to march again at 6 Oclock this evening with 2 days of cooked provisions in our haversacks and 4 days more in our waggons but have left evrything els at our old camp at Elk Water. I wrote you a letter by Wm Serring which I hope you have received before this time. I also sent one by him to Henry Husted Ordering me a Coat and 2 pr of pants. The Coat & one pr. pants ware to be blue cloth with a Gold cord on the Seams of the pant legs. Now I want you to have the order changed so far as the Gold cord and instead of it I want what is called a welt Seam put in the pants made out of pale or Sky Blue cloth so that it resembles a cord. The other pants I spoke of
