I send it for your and the childrens benefit and I consider it yours therefore do with it as you please and I will be satisfied. You perhapse think I might send more than I do but honestly I do not know how I can get along here with much less than what I do.  I will have to buy me some clothes out of my next payment as my wardrobe is getting quite seedy owing to laying in the dirt so much  Therefore I may not be able to send you as much as I otherwise might.  I will try and make it avrage Seventy five dollars per month that I send home if I possibly can. You wanted to know what Company Officers get per month. My wages amounts to $106.50 per month which is counted for in this way.  What is called the wages proper is $45.00 per month. Then I am entitled to rations for 4 men and 1 ration for Servant making in all 5 rations. these I do not draw therefore I get the money for it at 30 cts per day for each ration which amounts to $45.00 also per month. Then I am allowed $13 00 per month to pay a Servent and $3.50 per month for servants cloths making in all $106.50.  Then I have my own liveing to take out of that and what is left is clar gain.  1st Lieut gets $5,00 per month (proper) more. and a Cap $15,00 that is
