It is nearly noon so I must hurry and finish and eat my dinner and report for picket duty. Bill Serring has just got a letter from Sam Stating that a box has just been Started from there in which Some of my friends among other things are Sending me a Jar of butter and now I will tell you what I want you to Send me if you can get them handy and that is a Barrell of good apples that is if you can Start them immediately so that they will be sure to get here before we should leave. Of course you will Send them by Express, and I will pay the charges when they arrive. If you send them Start a letter at the Same time or before Stating the time they Start Dinner is ready and I must Stop. My respects to one and all, and tell your Father and Thom that I would like to See a letter from them once in a while if they feel so inclined. You can let them read yours which will save the trouble of me writing to them Direct to Nashville Ten and write as often as you can Your Affectionate Husband A. F. Davis
