1863 Jan. 6. 63 As the mail does not go out until nearly night I will Slip this Scrap in your letter before Sending Last night was the coldest night of the Seazon but today it is clear and quite warm considering. We had quite an accident in Co "K" a few minutes since. R. T. Walton of Co "J" was cutting down a tree for wood and it fell the wrong way and fell on one of Co "K" tents and mashed it all to pieces and Severely wounded John Webb in the head and breast and slightly wounded two others. Webb is quite Severely hurt but I do not think he is dangerouly hurt. There was ten men in the tent at the time and how the rest of them escaped being killed or wounded is a
