Camp Near Pelham Tenn July 25 1863 Mrs. Sarah Davis My dear Wife Your Patriotic letter of the 17" inst come to hand the 23rd inst but ever since that time I have been very busy making Pay Rolls, so that I have no time to answer it until tonight. I was exceedingly glad to hear that your health still improves and hope that by the next time I see you, you will be a Sound woman once more Well the all absorbing question in hoosierdom seems to be Morgan. and I guess we will have to acknowledge that he has proved the Proverb to be true that Some things can be done as well as others. I see by the papers that he is still at large with a fraction of his forces and still going North, but I do not think he will ever get back into Rebbledom again unless he abandons his men and goes in disguise and I hardly think he will be that much of a dastard as to desert his men, I suppose the people in Indiana and Ohio think (some of them at least) that they know
