there is now a scouting party after him but as he is wel mounted it is almost impocible to Capture him. the health of the Rgt" is Good but the Contrabands are dropping off like sheep they are certainly the most miserable looking set of human beings that I ever set eyes on they are dirty ragged sick & hungry, and the Citizens are almost as bad off. US. is feeding about 400 negro Wenches up whar Co. D, is and about as many more here. they are Quartered in a correll Inside of the lines. some of the Negro men are Soldiers but a great portion of them are fit for nothing. the Citizens are also a hard looking set I think verry will suited to this Country. "Uncle Sam" is also (feeding them) they come to the "2 M" almost every day for their regular Corn Meal & Pork. I send you a Pulaski paper so you can see what Genl Dodge proposes to do for them this spring. the weather has been quite cold since we have been here we had quite a Snow Storm Last week. to day is the first pleasant day we have had Since we arrived here. it is now beginning to look like Spring. I Suppose we will all return to Pulaski in a fiew days. News Came this morning that this Regt was to be relieved by the 112" Ills and that the 7" was to return to the old place, but I hope it is not
