I will write to John in a fiew days. I think he had better try & get his discharge and go home, for one of us should be near them. I received a letter from him this morning dated the 31st of March he is Still in the Hospital & thinks he will never be fit for hard duty. what a hard time he has had I hope I may be more fortunate. I thought this morning that I had quite a lot of news for you & could write you a long letter tonight, but this bad news has driven it all from me consequently my letter this evening will be Short. you Speak of having written to me about fathers being Sick. I did not receive it. your letter to day is the first since the one with your picture. I cannot account for it. the other boys receive letters almost every mail Some of them Come through in six days. I have written Every week since our arrival here & will continue to do so Hope you have received them all. I am as you will see by the Heading still in the Adjutants Office. I wrote to you for my small pen can you send it in a letter without it gitting damaged if so pleas send it as I am needing it badly. You speak of B- you cannot tell me anything about him that will (I am sorry to say) change my opinion I do hope Mother & Litha will keep Clear of him.
