Saving...
We have had ten days of hard weather it has been raining almost all the time The Roads are quite muddy. it is now clear & warm again and in a Short time we will be O.K. I am not Surprised at what you tell me about Dr Ferrard. but do think that Mrs. "W" is in small business. I must close, I wish my dear That I could write you a better letter, there is plenty to write about but I cannot tell you in the way I would like So must close as I often do: (before telling you all That I intended to) We are Expecting marching orders Every moment will write to you again as Soon as I can Love to all write often & Believe me ever Your Affectionate Husband Frank Malcom P.S. August 24" 9 O'Clock P.M. Atlanta is on fire & our Guns are Throwing Shells into the city as fast as they can. Just Imagine a Bunch of fire crackers Exploding all at one time and you can then form an Idea of the cannonading That is going on now. I do hope the city will be burned to the ground. August 9AM. The 25th 1864 We have not received marching orders as were expected last Evening. it is Thought by the Officers that we will march to the Right to night The Regiment is now in front and will not be Relieved until after Dark, Love to all be sure to write often etc. Yours & Frank (Many thanks for the Stamps I was Just out.)
