H'd Qrs 7" Iowa Vet Inft Rome Ga Nov 8" 1864 My dear Wife As This is Election day and being one of the Clerks, I have but a few moments to write it is now noon and we have closed for one hour. we have polled Two hundred & fifty seven votes up to the present time & not one for Little Mack I will write you as Soon as I can and give you all the news Their is two Companies in the Regimt that vote in Lee Co. Viz D & E I do not think Chas. Doerr will git a vote in the two Cos. we will elect D. H. Liseun if it is in our power to do so Yesterday was Pay Day we all Rec'd our pay up to the 31st of August Last I received $181.80 I send you 170$ The Pay master takes it to Louisville K.Y. and Then forwards it by Express to any point That The Cos. may designate Company "D Send theirs to Chas. Bruster Esqr of Fort Madison Lee Co Iowa You will Call on him and git your package when it arrives I will write again soon You must excuse [hurts?] now & Believe me Ever Your Affectionate husband Frank Malcom
