H'd Qrs 7" Iowa Vet Inft Rome Ga Nov 9" 1864 My dear Wife I Recieved Your Kinde and welcom letter also the Small Book Socks and papers by Dennis A Morrison for which I am much obliged. The socks are quite a treat they are very warm & nice The book I will read & pass around. You must pardon me my dear for not writing to you immediately. The reason I did no do so was that we were at that time expecting to be paid evry day, and I did not wish to write again until I had recd my pay. The long looked for day arrived at Last we all Recieved our pay on the 7st inst up to the 31st of August Last. I Recieved two Enstallments of Bounty 40$ each and my pay pr month 16$ after the 1st of may making in all $181.80
