will depend on you to Keep me in postage stamps, it is not necessary for me to tell you what to do with the money Knowing that you make good use of it, but would suggest that you keep enough for your own use & pay the balance to Mr Cattermole I have forgotten the amount due Mr C. but if you pay him in full be sure to have him cancil the Mortgage on the Records. We will probably be paid soon again and then we can make another payment & pay the Taxes. Yesterday was Election day all passed off quietly in the old 7". Their was 344 votes Polled, of which Lincoln Recieved 338 McLellen 3 & there was 3 that were Illegal. In the 1st Congretional District there was 135 votes Polled, of which James F. Wilson Recd 134 J. K. Hornish 1 For Lee County there was 68 votes Polled of which D. H. Lesuer Recd 67 Chas. Doerr 1 & the other County Ticket the same There was but the one Copperhead vote in the County & only three in the Regiment
