H'd Qrs 7" Iowa Vet Inft Andersons Plantation 9 miles South West of Savannah Ga Dec 20" 1864 My dear wife. I have Just Received your kinde and affectionate letter of Nov 1st Received Yours of the 6" 13" & 21" a fiew days since and wrote you immediately Informing you that I was Enjoying good health and giveing you all the news that I could. but as I had nothing at That time to write on and the wind was blowing very hard I fear you will have trouble to read it. In fact I hardly know now what I did say. but believe I Informed you of the date of our departure from Rome, The Burning of the City, and the destruction of Atlanta also the destruction of all the towns Rail Roads and all the Public Property that was within the reach of this Army while on the Campaign. we left Rome on the 11" of Nov and arrived
