and wish we could be with you. The Soldiers are allowed to take anything That they may finde outside of the Citizens Houses but are not permitted under any Circumstances to enter the House. We passed through a very rich country forage of Every Kinde was plenty, I like many others, had came to the conclusion that the Rebels could not subsist their Army much longer, but we finde That to be a sad mistake for Shermans army destroyed forage enough on this compaign to have fed the Rebs for the next 12 months, it is true they do not live as well as our soldiers do but corn is plenty and they have the mills to make it into meal. and when The Army is foot loos they can finde plenty of fat Hogs & Cattle. Genl. Sherman has got Savannah Surrounded, the Rebel force in & about the place is Estimated at about 15000 it is impossible for Them to Escape so it is very probable The place will be taken by seige, cannonading & Heavy Kirmishing is Kept up all the time our Pickets are within
