Sep 29th 1861 Camp McClellan Kind Friend, with great pleasure I attempt to write to you. I shall try to write as if I was talking to you the first thing I have to tell you is that we had a lonesome tim the first eavning after we left Sidney It was an eavning never to be forgotten by me we rode for miles without speaking night came and a dreary night it was next day we traveled 50 mi got to Adams Co. with Milts friends here we remained one day had a pleasent time next day caught up with the Company traveled to Afton here we stayed the remainder of the day.
