a small stream called Cold Watter we then turned southward untill we came to where this stream ran into the Tallahatchie river there we crossed the Cavelry just at dark and traveled all night Some time in the night we passed through a small town called Charlston, next day at noon we wer 50 miles from where we started the eavening before at that place we burnt several railroad bridges and a few cars we then returned to Charlston and stoped for the night it rained all night this was pretty hard on the recruits. John and Hud wer both with us, they stood it fine the next day we traveled back toward Coldwatter ten miles there we met the
